Keep the Momemtum Going!

11 Oct

Anti-Genocide Activists,

Last Thursday, tens of thousands of students worldwide participated in DarfurFast, and because of your efforts we raised tens of thousands of dollars for civilian protection, received attention in dozens of local and school newspapers as well as coverage on newswires across the globe! Thank you for your continued dedication to this cause!

Now, the Time to Protect campaign continues! We must now hold elected officials accountable and push them towards further action for Darfur. With the mid-term elections coming up in November, there has never been a better time to speak out for those who cannot speak for themselves! Find out more about how to get involved below. Let’s keep up the noise!

Peace in Darfur,

Attend a STAND Regional Conference!

You — your ideas, passion, and experiences — are a resource for this movement. That’s why STAND is hosting six Regional Conferences in the coming months. These conferences will provide an opportunity to connect you with other student anti-genocide activists in your region, train you to be an even more effective advocate for Darfur, and link you with community groups. We will celebrate our achievements while brainstorming ways to break new ground. Each conference will feature an array of academics, policymakers, and advocates in the anti-genocide movement.

The Great Lakes Regional Conference at Northwestern University is less than 5 weeks away! Register for this conference and others here. The deadline for Great Lakes conference registration is October 20th — space is limited!

Hold Elected Officials Accountable!

In the next couple of weeks, STAND will be introducing a “Congressional Pledge” for elected leaders and congressional candidates to endorse. Let’s mobilize to show our elected officials how much we care about their commitment to ending the genocide in Darfur.

Please click here for the most up-to-date information on how to hold your elected officials accountable for their response to the Darfur genocide. More info coming soon!
