Darfur – neverending.

17 Oct

We have heard that Arabs may be coming to the rescue; this could be considered a very dangerous situation or not, depending on how one looks at it.

Jan Pronk seems to think it’s dangerous

The government has responded by directing more troops and equipment from elsewhere to the region and by mobilizing Arab militia. This is a dangerous development.”

As we know the government of Sudan has always been accused – and has denied – backing the Janjaweed militia.

In a recent interview with the BBC recent former Hahhaweed fighter gave some reason to doubt the government’s denial.

Sudanese ministers gave express orders for the activities of his unit, which included rape and the killing children.”

It becomes more of a conundrum everyday, a situation where despite large humanitarian efforts – thwarted continually – it appears the government of Sudan is bound and determined to kill off an ethnic and racially specific portion of it’s population.

 While we watch.
