Jan Pronk booted out of Sudan????????

Darfur: The end of an insider’s blog?

Khartoum has ordered Jan Pronk, Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the UN in Sudan, to leave the country by Wednesday because of comments Pronk made on his blog. Some may dismiss this as hardly surprising because diplomacy and openness don’t exactly mix.

Hitler didn’t want anyone reporting on his genocidal tendancies either.

Yet as I’ve pointed out here in an earlier post and again will reiterate via this link to a post from the NYT, reprinted in the Herald Tribune, and posted at Sudan: The Passion of the Present.

Far away from Darfur’s agony, Khartoum is booming

The contrast makes the situation of the people in Darfur even more horrifying.
