A mere concilatory response, a reaction to pressure from those who continue to call the Beijing Olympics “The Genocide Olympcis”, though China’s diplomats refuse to recognize it as such.
In the meantime there has not been a full deployment of African Union peace keeping troops, the government in Khartoum is still refusing to cooperate fully, only roughly one third of the expected troops are present, with their job largely to protect those already in refugee camps.
The African Unions Summit starts this week, and U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon hopes to pop in and may finally get around to discussing the situation with Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir. Bashir, president of a government largely responsible for the genocide and continual roadblocks in the effort to resolve the problem.
