Darfur Asks the U.S. Presidential Candidates for Support

In The Sudan genocide campaign hasn’t crushed Darfur’s will — yet.

A Fremont, California resident, born in Darfur, and having attended various schools in various villages throughout Darfur through 12th grade, speaks for the people of Darfur in asking the presidential candidates in the United states for their support in ending the genocide.

I WAS BORN in a village in Darfur. I grew up and went to school until 12th grade in different towns and cities in Darfur. I now live in California.

According to the Geneva Conventions on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, genocide is committed by “deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part.”

Now more than ever, the Sudanese government is confident its crime of genocide is on schedule and on target, but the Darfurian people have not given up and continue to struggle for their lives, for their communities and for their future.

We, the people of Darfur, are asking the 2008 U.S. presidential candidates for their support.

Together we can and must end the genocide in Darfur.
