The U.N. refugee agency says it’s scrambling to get aid to thousands of stranded villagers fleeing Sudan’s Darfur region to neighboring Chad.
The agency says up to 12,000 refugees have gathered in a border city after air strikes by the Sudanese military on three towns in West Darfur.
A conflict which appears small in terms of world conflicts, but a genocide is occurring, intentionally or not. If we can’t stop a conflict of this size, a conflict which is wiping out men, starving children and raping woman, what hope is there for the world at large? If you think the answer is none, you may be right. We need to try harder, to find solutions that will work instead of continuing on a course which hasn’t worked in four years.
