Domes for Darfur

12 May has teamed up with Tony Sanders and Emerge Arts Project Inc, and are running a campaign called Domes for Darfur. It is the goal of this campaign to send over 100 much needed dome structures to the already swollen refugee camps in the Darfur area. With a 14 foot diameter and standing 7 feet tall in the middle, these structures can sleep 7 to 8 people comfortably, be used for medical tents, community gathering areas, the list goes on and on.

Their first fundraising event for this campaign on May 31st in Half Moon Bay, California. The event will take place at Sujaro African Art Gallery at 400 Main Street and will start at roughly 1:00 p.m. The event is going to include the preview screening of a new documentary on Darfur called “They turned our desert into fire” as well as Q&A with the director, Mark Brecke.

There will be dance performances from the renowned Fat Chance Belly Dance troupe and the New Moon Belly Dance Ensemble, information on personal divestment, various petitions and letters, a display of one the yurt dome tents, music and much more!
